You looked at some companies that are breaking into the field of generative AI, you tried out some generative AI tools and and you looked at a few consumer- and enterprise-facing application. But, we have not yet formally defined what generative AI means.

Generative artificial intelligence (AI) describes algorithms (such as ChatGPT) that can be used to create new new content, including audio, code, images, text, simulations and videos.
You have now formally defined generative AI and looked at some of the noteworthy tools and applications. In the next segment, Kshitij will provide a structure to the tools you have looked at so far by organising them in a formal stack which will enable you to understand the specific purposes of tools, and overall what goes behind designing a generative AI system.
