Previously, the most commonly used data- storing and data-processing system were RDBMSs (Relational Database Management Systems). An RDBMS uses tables to store data in a row- column format. these tables have a well- defined schema /metadata, and the data that is stored in each table has to comply with the underlying schema. mostly, operational (transactional) data used to be stored and analysed using RDBMSs. but you can see that we no longer store and process big data using these traditional systems.
