Previously, you learnt about the different types of data, i.e. structured data. both these data types constitute a small proportion (around 20%) of the total data that is generated today. the remaining significant proportion of data is known as unstructured data.

In this video, you were introduced to the 4 Vs of big data. Usually, these 4 Vs are used to identify whether the dataset in hand is big data or not. The 4 Vs are as follows:
- Volume: The data cannot be stored, processed, and interpreted by a single computing machine.
- Velocity: This is the speed at which the data arrives. The system should be capable of accessing, storing, and processing this high-speed data.
- Variety: Data can be structured, semi-structured, or unstructured. The system should be capable of handling all kinds of data.
- Veracity: The data can either be of questionable quality or lack authenticity. It is prone to noise or bias.
